Welcome to the Upward Bound @ TRIO Programs!
 
Upward Bound is a year-round program, within the Division of Student and Outreach Services, sponsored by the University of North Dakota and the United State Department of Education. The purpose of the Upward Bound Program is to assist disadvantaged high school students in developing and enhancing their academic and motivational skills so the may graduate and successfully enroll in a postsecondary educational institution.

Services Available
Supplemental Instruction-Provide educational material in the following areas: reading, writing, science, math, study skills, and career development to supplement their school work throughout the academic year.

Personal Assistance-Provide motivation and personal support to project participants through continuous contact with Upward Bound Advisors and support staff, schools teachers, school counselors, tutors, home visits, counseling sessions, and field trips to educational centers.

Residential Program-Provide a six-week program during the summer (June-July) which allows the participants to live on the University of North Dakota campus and take part in a variety of academic, social and cultural activities. The summer Program focuses on academics by emphasizing reading, writing, math, science, and other communication skills. After successfully completing the summer program, students earn one half high school credit.

Bridge Program-The summer following graduation from high school, the Upward Bound students participate in the "Bridge Summer." In this program, students take college courses for credit, which transfer to the college of their choice.

Other Services-Provide academic advisement, tutoring, and study skills activities, career exploration information, college preparation (financial aid, admissions, etc.), and educational/cultural experiences. Upward Bound Newsletters
